Little Anthony & The Imperials are living
proof that doing what you love can keep you young forever.
This is one of the few vocal groups rooted
in the 1950s that survived the changes of the following decade
and continued to produce chart-topping hits. Little Anthony
& The Imperials still tour and record with their original
lineup - no small achievement, during a career that spans
four decades. True living legends, Little Anthony and the
Imperials perform out 100 nights a year - a feat envied by
much younger bands.
Although their story echoes that of many groups
from the '50s, Little Anthony & The Imperials have had
a colorful career and gone on to achieve a degree of success
attained by very few.
The group, whose historic lineup features Anthony
Gourdine (lead), Clarence Collins (baritone), Ernest Wright
(2nd tenor), and Sammy Strain (tenor), signed a contract in
the summer of '64 for DCP Records (Don Costa Productions).
They enjoyed a great resurgence with more ballads under the
tutelage of producer / composer Teddy Randazzo.
The group went on to record several more huge
hits, including: "Shimmy, Shimmy Ko-Ko Bop",
"Hurts So Bad", "I Miss You So", and "
Take Me Back". With amazing style, choreography, songs
and a show that is unparalleled in today's market, Little
Anthony & The Imperials plan to stay together forever
and bring their music to the world.
